Puerto Princesa, officially the City of Puerto Princesa, is a city on the western island province of Palawan in the Philippines. It is home to the headquarters of the Philippines’ Western Command. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park – With its crystal-clear waters and spectacular cave formations, the Underground River is arguably Puerto Princesa’s most popular attraction. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. The winding river can be explored by small boats that depart from Sabang Beach. • Honda Bay – Made up of several small islands with beautiful beaches, Honda Bay is ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and beach and island-hopping. • Iwahig Penal Colony – A working example of a true correctional institution, Iwahig Penal Colony functions more as a farming community than a traditional prison. • Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center – A facility focused on the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of local wildlife. • Butterfly Garden – A small garden and enclosure where visitors can see a variety of butterfly species up close. • Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception – A very beautiful church decorated in blue and white. • Palawan Museum – A local museum showcasing the history and culture of Palawan. • PSU Museum – A small, single-room museum located inside a university building, featuring selected cultural and historical exhibits.
